About Us

Janshilakshmi Community Based Organization(JLCBO)

JLCBO aims to promote social justice, equality, and human rights by empowering marginalized communities, eliminating discrimination, supporting vulnerable groups, and fostering inclusive development.

Janshi Lakshmi Community Based Organization(JLCBO) was registered in 2006 as a non-profit voluntary service society in Anantapur District of Andhra Pradesh, South India. The JLCBO has been working in the field of health, agriculture, women's development, environment, child welfare, rural infrastructure, rural skills up-gradation, education, income generation, child labor elimination, sex worker rehabilitation, rehabilitation of HIV/AIDS, etc.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:
1. To erode oppression and prohibition dependent on such factors as race, nationality, sex, class, religion, legitimate status, age, community, and sexual orientation.
2. To improve gender identity and gender reassignment equality, and opportunities.
3. To ensure bodily integrity, physical autonomy, and self-determination.
4. To build legal frameworks to ensure the protection of human rights and reparative justice.
5. To change attitudes towards sexuality stereotypes and transphobia in India.
6. To work for establishing social, economic, and environmental justice for Transgender people, sex workers, intersex, and gender non-conforming people and to eliminate oppression and exclusion based on such factors as race, ethnicity, gender, class, religion, legal status, and sexual orientation.

OUR VISION

To represent mobilize and empower communities of female, male and transgender sex workers in India, to promote and protect the human rights of sex workers in India.

OUR MISSION

We strive to empower downtrodden and underprivileged sections of society and provide them with the resources, opportunities, and skills that are necessary to compete with the mainstream.



Programs

Vocational Training Program

The workshops under vocational training program provided comprehensive vocational training in beauty parlor skills, covering makeup, hairstyling, facials, and more. Designed exclusively for unemployed girls, one of the program benefited around 25 participants by equipping them with practical skills for self-employment and income generation in the beauty industry.

Livelihood Training Program

On December 6, 2021, we inaugurated a tailoring training program in Anantapur (D), Andhra Pradesh, aimed at empowering marginalized communities. This livelihood initiative was introduced to help participants overcome the financial challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic by equipping them with tailoring skills for self-employment and income generation.

Tailoring training

We offer skill development training in tailoring for economically disadvantaged adolescents and women, empowering them to become self-reliant. Many participants have successfully launched their own micro-enterprises in fashion designing, specializing in stitching various types of blouses, performing zari work on sarees, and making school uniforms. This initiative has enabled them to earn an average supplementary income of INR 4,500 per month, providing vital financial support to their families and fostering economic independence.

World AIDS Day

JLCBO actively celebrated World AIDS Day by organizing awareness sessions for people, particularly from slum areas. Participants were educated about the modes of HIV transmission, the symptoms of AIDS, and the various HIV detection tests available in hospitals. The program emphasized the importance of regular health check-ups at least once a year for early detection and prevention. This initiative aimed to reduce stigma, spread accurate information, and encourage proactive health measures to combat HIV/AIDS.

International Women's Day (IWD) celebration

We joyfully celebrated International Women's Day (IWD) at Batrepalli village, Anantapur, honoring the strength, resilience, and achievements of women. The event aimed to empower women and raise awareness about gender equality and women’s rights within the community.
